Geneva residents should prepare for an increase in their water and sewer bills beginning in May due to previously approved rate adjustments. This change will reflect in the May City utility bill.
Residential water users consuming 700 cubic feet monthly will see their bills increase by approximately $4. Meanwhile, households that consume more water, particularly larger families using around 2,000 cubic feet per month, can expect an increase of about $11.
The Geneva City Council implemented a five-year rate structure in 2023. This was designed to fund necessary improvements like water main and lead service line replacements, a sanitary line crossing the Fox River, upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and other critical water-related capital projects. The plan includes 7.5% increases for the first two years, followed by 5% hikes in the subsequent three years.
Residents can find a detailed breakdown of the rates on the City’s website. For additional information regarding rates and associated projects, the Geneva Public Works Department Water Division can be reached at 630-232-1551.
