Nicor Gas is set to begin replacing natural gas mains on both sides of the Fox River in Geneva. Equipment mobilization is expected to start in late April. According to the City of Geneva, the project will focus on several areas, as detailed on a new web page.
The replacement process will mainly be conducted through underground boring but will also involve pavement cutting and road closures. The project, contingent on weather conditions, is anticipated to conclude within four to five months.
Nicor is expected to communicate with affected homes and businesses, as the project will necessitate reconnecting properties to the new infrastructure. The City of Geneva, while offering updates to the community, clarifies that it has no authority or control over the operation.
"While the City of Geneva is providing information to the community, the City has no authority or control over Nicor's project. The details shared by the City are only as good as the information provided to us by Nicor."
