The City of Batavia is scheduled to begin a citywide hydrant flushing on April 14. This process is an essential part of routine maintenance aimed at improving water quality by clearing out built-up rust and sediment from water mains and ensuring hydrants are functioning correctly.

During the hydrant flushing period, residents may experience temporary water discoloration. Authorities advise that running cold water for a few minutes should help clear the discoloration. It is important to note that despite any discoloration, the water remains safe for use and consumption.

To help residents prepare, signs will be posted in neighborhoods before flushing commences in their respective areas. Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the City of Batavia Water Department at 630-454-2450.
