State Senator Don DeWitte and State Representative Dan Ugaste are collaborating to assist residents of the 33rd Senate District in locating unclaimed property. An event is scheduled for March 26 at their St. Charles office, where attendees can meet with a counselor from the Illinois Treasurer’s Office. The initiative aims to connect individuals with over $5 billion in unclaimed assets.

Senator DeWitte also participated in a panel discussion with Senate Transportation Committee Chair Ram Villivalam and Illinois Chamber of Commerce President Lou Sandoval. They addressed the impending $760 million fiscal challenge facing Metra, PACE, and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), exploring solutions for equitable board representation and long-term sustainability.

In another development, Republican lawmakers have urged the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) to align its policies on transgender athletes with federal guidelines that emphasize fairness based on biological sex. The lawmakers' letter emphasizes transparency and accountability in maintaining competitive balance in women’s sports.

Senator DeWitte is organizing a snack donation drive during Young Child Week from April 5-11 to support local children in need. Donations can be made at his legislative offices in West Dundee and St. Charles.

Additionally, homeschooling families recently gathered at the Illinois State Capitol to oppose House Bill 2827, which proposes new regulations on homeschooling. Critics argue it infringes on parental rights and could lead to further government interference.

Senate Republicans have expressed opposition to Governor JB Pritzker's proposal to eliminate townships across Illinois, arguing it may result in higher property taxes and reduced local services. They advocate for decisions on government consolidation to be made locally rather than through state mandates.

A bipartisan effort is underway with Senate Bill 2323 aiming to enhance Illinois’ response to human trafficking. The bill proposes improved coordination among state agencies, expanded training for key personnel, and extended legal rights for survivors. It passed the Senate Criminal Law Committee on March 18.
