Village of Montgomery Village Board met Nov. 25

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. In the absence of President Brolley, President Pro Tem Theresa Sperling called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

IV. Consent Agenda

A. Minutes of the November 12, 2024 Village Board Meeting.

B. Accounts Payable and Summary Report through November 25 th in the Amount of $400,099.97.

C. Refuse Report for October 2024

Trustee Marecek moved to approve Items A-C of the Consent Agenda , seconded by Trustee Brzoska.

V. Items for Separate Action

A. Resolution No. 2024-060 Accepting a Transfer of Easement Agreement from Fox Metro Water Reclamation District for Route 25 Lift Station .)

Director Wolf explained that this is a unique issue as this is an older lift station from the old Aurora Sanitary District. The Village owns this lift station but has been paying Fox Metro operate it; however, this agreement will transfer the easement to the Village. Flows are generated only from Montgomery residents so Montgomery will take over operations of this lift station.

Trustee Jungermann moved to approve Resolution No. 2024-060 Accepting a Transfer of Easement Agreement from Fox Metro Water Reclamation District for Route 25 Lift Station, seconded by Trustee Gier.

5 Yea. 0 No. Motion carried. Trustee Jungermann, Trustee Marecek, Trustee Brzoska, Trustee Gier and Trustee Sperling voting yea.

B. Resolution No. 2024-061 Authorizing the Execution of an Audit Closure Report – Azavar Audit Solutions .

Attorney Julien explained that this is a settlement agreement in order to close the audit.

Trustee Marecek moved to approve Resolution No. 2024-061 Authorizing the Execution of an Audit Closure Report – Azavar Audit Solutions , seconded by Trustee Brzoska.

5 Yea. 0 No. Motion carried. Trustee Marecek, Trustee Brzoska, Trustee Gier, Trustee Sperling and Trustee Jungermann voting yea.

C. Ordinance No. 2101 for the Levy and Assessment of Taxes for the Fiscal Year Beginning May 1, 2025 and Ending April 30, 2026 (First Reading .)

Director Milewski presented the proposed tax levy which must be filed with the counties by the last Tuesday in December. The Public Hearing will be held at the next Board Meeting. She asked for direction from the Board regarding the amount of the tax levy and after discussion, a majority of the Board was in favor of freezing the levy and taking only an increase based on new construction and property not previously fully assessed.

Trustee Gier asked for an update on the use of two one-man leaf vacs, and Director Wolf said it worked out great. He said the second truck was a great investment and allows staff the ability to run the truck longer and with greater staff safety.

Trustee Brzoska noted that holiday contest judging will be Wednesday, December 11th at 5 pm.

Trustee Marecek reminded everyone that the tree lighting is December 8th at 5 pm. He thanked staff for the great job preparing and said he is grateful for all sponsorships and the partnership with the Chamber.
