FOIA Request to City of Aurora Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Kane County Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Aurora. The request, dated October 28, 2024, seeks records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The information sought includes a list of all parking violations currently unpaid in the city. Specifically, we requested details such as the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include informing the public about important issues affecting their community.

We are hopeful that our request will be granted without any fees as we fall under the category of media professionals who are eligible for a fee waiver. We await a positive response from the City of Aurora and will keep our readers updated on any developments regarding this matter.
