Constituents of State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) and State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) are invited to attend a free property tax seminar on Wednesday, June 5 in St. Charles. The event will feature Kane County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Armstrong as the guest presenter.
"My office hears regularly from residents who are either confused about line items on their tax bill or who believe they are being over-taxed," said DeWitte. "Mark Armstrong is among the best in his field, and he will take a difficult subject matter and explain it in an easy-to-understand way. Anyone with questions about their tax bill is encouraged to attend."
The seminar will be held at the DeWitte-Ugaste Legislative Office, located at 406 Surrey Woods Drive, St. Charles, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Attendees will learn how tax bills are created from information provided by various taxing bodies, about available exemptions that can lower tax bills, and how to file an appeal if they believe their assessment is inaccurate. The event will also include a question-and-answer period.
"This important seminar will help constituents understand what is included on their property tax bills and how to appeal their taxes," stated Rep. Ugaste. "All who attend will have the opportunity to ask questions in a helpful and friendly environment."
For additional information about this event, please call the DeWitte office at (847) 214-8245 or the Ugaste office at (630) 797-5530.
