Mark Rice, a candidate for Illinois' 8th Congressional District, expressed his disillusionment with what he perceives as the corruption within the Democratic party. He stated, "The awakening… coming to terms with corrupt politicians in the Democrat party pushing anti-American agenda using our tax money."
"The awakening… coming to terms with corrupt politicians in the Democrat party pushing anti-American agenda using our tax money," said Rice, according to Facebook.
In a Facebook post, Rice referenced a Fox News report featuring Corey Brooks, pastor and founder of Project H.O.O.D. Brooks voiced his concerns to Fox News about Chicago's handling of the migrant crisis. He said, "My faith in government is very low. It's been overwhelming. We already have an infrastructure that is overburdened and we already have a city that is already overtaxed. And now you're adding individuals who, for the most part, are here illegally and now we're having to carry that burden."

According to an ABC7 report this week, the City of Chicago closed the migrant shelter at the former Wadsworth Elementary School after relocating migrants elsewhere. The site had reportedly been a source of noise, loitering and crime according to local residents. The city had spent more than $1 million renovating buildings for migrants including Wadsworth Elementary which was intended to house 200 newly arrived migrants but accommodated more than 600 at one point.
Rice has previously criticized Mayor Johnson's decision not to end Chicago's sanctuary status due to the influx of illegal migrants into the city. In January he commented that it was easier for Johnson "to get his Democrat Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi out of Crook County to try to secure more federal money for the immigration racket they created," according to a Jan. 5 DuPage Policy Journal article.
Rice's campaign for the 8th Congressional District emphasizes key issues such as economic growth, fiscal responsibility, tax relief and immigration reform and border security. With a substantial 35-year residency in Illinois under his belt, Rice currently serves as the CEO of Energy CX, a leading company in the energy sector. Under his leadership, a team of 70 professionals has earned the company national recognition for its comprehensive energy solutions, according to rice4congress.com.
