Heather Brown, a candidate for Illinois State Senate District 25, recently shared a message of unity and peace as Thanksgiving approached. Brown expressed her gratitude for the diversity of faiths in the community, emphasizing the importance of coming together to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Coming together with many different faiths, to celebrate this Thanksgiving,” Brown said on Facebook.
“Peacemakers for our communities, for our future where we can stand together United as One.”
“For future generations and our own children as they grow in our communities without hate in their hearts. Praying for peace in our State and in our Country.”
Brown also organized a Prayer Rally for Israel, where she addressed the attendees as a peacemaker and a voice for all believers in faith.
“I come here today as a peacemaker. A voice for it to communicate for all believers in faith,” she said at the event.
She voiced optimism about the resolution of conflicts and called for unity in times of instability.
“Let there be no doubt that we will overcome these times. Those confused in the instability, in living the opposite life planned out for you and others,” she said.
Brown said she is looking forward to a better day.
“Here in the United States, we are one. We stand together in times of despair. And I promise to stand up as a peacemaker for all of those now until my dying day. For my children to have a future not filled with hate and for my community to once again join hands and be at peace with one another,” she said.
Brown's commitment towards unity has its roots from personal experiences. Brown’s comments come in the wake of a concerning experience she described during a petition drive event at a West Chicago Dunkin Donuts where she was intimidated by two individuals. She described feeling uneasy as the two men, who did not order anything, seemed to be monitoring her closely. This incident occurred after Brown wrote an Op-ed discussing pro-Hamas elements within the Democratic Party, emphasizing the importance of teaching history truthfully and condemning support for antisemitic groups, according to DuPage Policy Journal.
The State Senate District 25 has a diverse demographic composition. The State Senate District 25 is currently represented by State Sen. Karina Villa (D-West Chicago). It includes all or parts of Aurora, North Aurora, Batavia, West Chicago, South Elgin, Wayne and Bartlett.
