Elgin, IL – After a nationwide search, the City of Elgin has named Edell Fiedler to serve as Director of Communications and Engagement. Fiedler will oversee city communications and engagement efforts, including branding, messaging, media relations and public information. Fiedler began her duties on September 24.

“We are excited to welcome Edell to the City of Elgin,” says City Manager Rick Kozal. “She will be an asset in helping to share information with the public, tell the City's story and engage the community."

Fiedler comes to Elgin from the City of Mankato, Minn., where she served as the Communications and Engagement Director. Fiedler significantly grew Mankato’s communications and engagement efforts, and most recently, won a national Award of Excellence from the City-County Marketing Association (3CMA) for engagement efforts she led on a Mankato park project.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Elgin,” Fiedler says. “I look forward to joining this vibrant community and helping to keep residents informed about what’s happening at the city.”

Fiedler has a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a master’s degree in English-Technical Writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU), and a master's in organizational leadership from Saint Mary’s University, Winona, Minn. She also currently serves as an adjunct instructor in the Master of Business Administration program at MSU.   For more information contact Director of Communications and Engagement Edell Fiedler at 847-931-5609.
