City of Geneva Natural Resources Committee met April 5.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

5. Active Projects:

• Earth Day Event

i. Adam Dagley will attend NRC meeting to discuss updates.

ii. Set for April 22nd at Peck Farm Park

iii. Poster has been sent and posted.

iv. Continue broadcasting and promoting event.

v. Find more vendors.

vi. Order rain barrels. Need someone to pick them up from Jay’s house.

• Eastside Fire Station Natural Landscaping Project

i. Dan Ludwig continues to monitor the plants.

• River Clean-up Day

i. Stay tuned for 2023.

• Rain Barrels for sale

i. Jay will order barrels.

ii. Barrels are $75 each.

• Greening Geneva Initiative

i. The trees we planted are starting to wake up.

ii. Kane County provided an update for tree locations at the Courthouse and Government Center. The tree donation is on the County’s agenda for approval.

iii. NRC has a quote from Wasco for all trees. Will plant Spring 2023 with County approval.

• Wine, Cheese, and Trees

i. WCT 2023 in in the bank!

ii. It was a huge success. Final numbers are being put together by the Park District.

iii. Library has already reserved spaces for 2024 event.

• Fabyan Preserve Stewardship

i. Workdays began October 8, 2022. Schedule was sent out and posted by City.

• Elm Park Restoration Work

i. Update from Kelvin

• NRC Facebook page and Instagram

i. Update of meeting with City

• Recycling Bins on 3rd Street

i. Update from Mel.

• Dark Sky Initiative

i. NRC to continue to promote the Dark Sky Initiative.

• Tree Ordinance

i. Based on NRC recommendations, there are several sections of the City Code that need to be amended in relation to tree preservation, tree protection, and landscaping.

6. New Initiatives

• Create an education piece to reduce plastic and styrofoam at restaurants. Attend Cantigny seminar?

• No Mow 'Til Mother's Day Program Discussion
