Kane County Reporter

There were 68 offenders living in Kane County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Kane County Reporter.

The data shows 62 men and six women were released in Kane County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 34. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2021, and the oldest was a 64-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2020.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Cowarna Patterson. She was convicted of homicide in 2003 when she was 19 years old. She is now 38.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
