City of Batavia Board of Fire & Police Commissioners met Sept. 26.

This meeting was held remotely via Zoom. The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m.

Roll Call

Members Present: Chairman Nancy Vance, Secretary Dennis Anderson

Members Absent: Commissioner Randy Zies

Others Present: Chief Shawn Mazza, Deputy Chief Eric Blowers, Deputy Chief Michael Johnson, and Recording Secretary Joanne Miller

Police Candidate: Aaron Riley

NEW BUSINESS

Appointment of Probationary Police Officer

Mayor Jeffrey D. Schielke authorized the commissioners to hire one Probationary Police Officer to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Officer Emil Jensen on May 19, 2022.

Motion: To appoint Aaron Riley for the position of Probationary Police Officer with the Batavia Police Department. Riley successfully completed all the requirements from the Conditional Offer and his appointment start date will be October 10, 2022.

Maker: Anderson

Second: Vance

Voice Vote: 2 Ayes, 0 Nays, 1 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to consider, a motion was made by Secretary Anderson to adjourn the meeting at 4:09 p.m. Seconded by Chairman Vance. All in favor. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned 4:09 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022, beginning at 12:00 p.m. This meeting will be held at the Batavia Police Department 2nd floor conference room.
