The 2021-2022 athletic season culminated with another highly successful year for Aurora University Athletics. With the lofty achievements comes the recognition of the athletes that made the success possible, starting with the Aurora University Female Athlete of the Year. The award, as voted on by staff members of the AU Athletic Department, will be presented to women's golf student-athlete Kallie Sakamoto.
Sakamoto wrapped up a tremendous 2021-2022 season, receiving numerous accolades for her on-course performances while securing the top athletic honor bestowed upon a Spartan female student-athlete.
On the 2021-2022 season, Sakamoto won the 2021 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship medalist and NACC Player of the Year honors. The Player of the Year honor was her third time in four seasons earning the top NACC women's golf award.
With leading the Spartan women's golf team to the 2021-2022 NCAA Division III Championship appearance, Sakamoto finished 25th overall with a four-round NCAA Championship score of 301 (78/77/71/75) in the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships. She was the first AU and NACC women's golfer ever to make the cut as an individual
Sakamoto overall on the 2021-2022 season averaged a 77.8 in 18 rounds of play while winning medalist honors four times and finishing in the top-10 of all 11 tournaments the Spartans competed in.
