The Judson University Men's Volleyball Team is entering its first CCAC Tournament in program history as the Eagles finished their regular season with a 24-4 win total, increasing their win count from 2021 by 14 wins, and breaking numerous records along the way. The Eagles program has never had more than 11 wins in a season prior to this campaign. This season's 11-2 mark in conference play inverses their 2-10 mark in conference play last year.
The Eagles' success this year has come from numerous factors. First, the Eagles had their best class of seniors in the program's brief five-year history as the Eagles have had fantastic play by Tom Kurzynski's 215 digs and 181 kills, Jamison Blasings' 267 kills, Javier Arreguin's 174 kills, and Noah McConville's stellar play defensively (377 digs) which has earned him CCAC defensive player of the week eight times.
Additionally, a pair of freshmen have helped increase the level of Judson's play. Setter Elijah Wrobel has led Judson with 916 assists (most in a single season in program history), along with 153 digs, 63 total blocks, 90 kills, and 30 service aces. He is a multi-time NCCAA National Player of the Week and a multi-time CCAC Setter of the Week. Brendan Gibbons has 259 kills for the Eagles to finish second on the team and also added 60 total blocks. Trevor Kozlowski has also made significant contributions to the team with 145 kills and 42 total blocks.
The action all starts tomorrow as the second-seeded Eagles face third-seeded Calumet College at St. Xavier's campus in Chicago. The two teams have split their two matches on the year as each team won on the opposing team's floor. Judson defeated Calumet in Whiting in straight sets, while Calumet defeated Judson in five sets last Thursday in Elgin. Whoever wins Friday's match will advance to play the winner of St. Xavier/Trinity Christian on Saturday in Chicago.
Friday's contest begins at 5:00 p.m. central time. Coverage can be found at the top of this story.
