Spartans tangle with Cardinals but fall short

The Aurora University men's volleyball team stood strong at No. 4 North Central with the Spartans coming up just short in a three set defeat.

MATCH SCORE: #4 North Central College 3, Aurora University 9 (19-25, 28-30, 20-25)

RECORDS: Aurora University 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the NACC ; #4 North Central College 9-0 overall

HOW IT HAPPEND

- The Spartans fell behind early but rallied back with multiple kills from John McCormack.

- AU fell in the opening set 25-19.

- The second set was thrilling volleyball going extra time.

- The lead changed hands 22 times in the frame and the Spartans hit .333.

- In the closing stages of the set, both the Spartans and Cardinals held set points six different times with AU twice and NCC eventually winning 30-28.

- The third set saw the Spartans continue to battle strongly but came up shy 25-20.
