The Judson University Men's Basketball Team finished its best regular season in over a decade in exciting fashion as the Eagles defeated Cardinal Stritch 71-70. The Eagles trailed 70-66 with exactly a minute remaining. Jordan Johnson hit a three-pointer at the 48-second mark to pull the Eagles within one. Following a Stritch turnover, Judson capitalized on a Thomas Donati lay-in with nine seconds left to give Judson a one-point lead. The Eagles held on in the final 10 seconds as the Wolves missed a free throw, a two-point shot, and a three-point shot in the final eight seconds. Judson's win marks the first 15-win regular season and first .500 regular season since the 2009-2010 campaign. The Eagles had already clinched a CCAC tournament berth on Wednesday.
Donati led the way with 22 points (11-16 FG), nine rebounds, three blocks, three assists, and one steal. Lorenzo Anderson scored 19 points on eight field goals and two free throws. He added four assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Johnny Flynn also reached double-digits with 11 points (5-9 field goals, 1-2 from downtown), four rebounds, a block, and a steal. Johnson had three additional field goals made to total nine points and added eight assists, six rebounds, three steals, and a block. Jack Keller provided a bench surge with six points and three rebounds. Damon Price had four points, a steal, and an assist.
"It's always hard to play at Cardinal Stritch. Our guys made some key stops and really big plays down the stretch," said Head Coach Bruce Fields. "Finishing the regular season on a four-game game win streak is huge for us. This is the momentum we need going into the conference tournament."
Judson will begin the conference tournament on the road on Wednesday, February 23, against an opponent to be determined.
