Carpentersville 72nd-highest taxed Illinois municipality in 2020

Carpentersville taxpayers paid the 72nd highest amount in sales taxes in 2020, according to Illinois tax records.

Taxpayers in Carpentersville paid $9.5 million in 2020.

Carpentersville was ranked 80th the year before.

Of all the taxes Carpentersville residents paid for, Municipal Home Rule Sales Tax was the most contributed to tax.

Illinois is the highest taxed state in the US.

A 2021 study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 38.95 percent higher than the national average.
