Prom Dress Giveaway Returns for 2022

18

After a two year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chip In Batavia and its partners are bringing back the popular Prom Dress Give A Way event on Saturday, March 12.  Chip In’s mission is to assist low income and homeless Batavia families in crisis. However, this event is open to any Kane County Junior or Senior. The goal is to ensure that all girls, regardless of income status, can enjoy this right of passage and not sit out due to the typically high expense.

Longtime partner Batavia Public Library is hosting the CHIP IN Batavia Prom Dress collection drive. Clean dresses in good to excellent condition and accessories can be dropped off at the library Check Out Desk. Tax donation letters will be available.

Donation drop off is now until March 10 at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. Hours are M-Th 9am-9pm, Fri-Sat 9am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm. Call the Library at 630-879-1393 if you have questions.

In an effort to provide social distancing and maintain a healthy atmosphere, Chip In has partnered with The Kane County Health Department who is graciously providing us space for the Prom Dress Give A Way at The Kane Vax Hub (formerly Sam’s Club), 501 N. Randall Rd. in Batavia.

CHIP IN Batavia’s 7th annual Prom Dress Giveaway will be Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 9am-4pm. There will be hundreds of dresses on display, along with private changing areas, and accessories to choose from. Masks are required.

Guests can also schedule a vaccination appointment – go to KaneVax.org or call 855-4-KANEVAX (855-452-6382). Get a dress and a vaccination!!!!

All dresses will be given away free of charge to any girl from ANY school district, regardless of need. Monetary donations are appreciated and will be used to help pay for tuxedo rentals and prom tickets for Batavia students.
