We will be hosting a series of community engagement sessions to gather feedback from you on where we are headed. The first session is scheduled for February 1st from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Batavia High School. For more info, please visit https://www.bps101.net/boft/.

Mayor's Weekly Update

The Mayor's update from Friday, Jan. 14 can be viewed here

We continually update our home page, bataviachamber.org when new resources and information comes out. Also, check our calendar for new events from us and the community. Make certain you check the calendars regularly!

We are closing with a couple of quotations attributed to Martin Luther King Jr. These two are simple thoughts, but applicable to our daily lives - business and personal:
  • "Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude."
  • "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."

As always, we are now, and will be in the future, here for you.

Most sincerely,

Margaret, Patti and Shirley
Your Batavia Chamber of Commerce Staff

Jennifer Zack Named 2021 Ambassador of the Year
Congratulations, Jenny!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Jennifer Zack is receiving the Ambassador of the Year award for 2021. In a "normal" year, we'd be surprising her at the annual Inspire! event later this month. Due to rising COVID numbers, we pushed back this popular annual awards event to Thursday, April 28. But...we couldn't sit on this news until then - Jenny deserves a full year of accolades for all she does for the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. So Jenny, enjoy your time in the limelight now! We cannot wait to present your award to you in person this spring.

The Chamber is grateful to the members who commit to serve on the Ambassador Committee. This core group, reflective of the membership, are front-line representatives for the Batavia Chamber of Commerce at public and Chamber-sponsored events and activities. They are a crucial link between the Chamber, its members and the community at large. We thank each and every one of our Ambassadors. Right now, we are particularly grateful for Jennifer Zack's commitment to not only the Chamber, but the community. Congratulations again, Jenny!

Congratulations to Bethany Lutheran Church!

The Batavia Chamber was delighted to help celebrate the 150-year anniversary of chamber member Bethany Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 16. Bethany Lutheran Church, located at 8 S. Lincoln St., Batavia, is a valued member of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. The ribbon cutting is one of many celebratory events planned throughout 2022.

Batavia Mayor Jeffery Schielke, along with Bethany’s senior pastor, Rev. Jeff Mikyska, presided over the short ceremony on the steps of the church. Previously, during the worship service, Mayor Schielke read and presented a proclamation of well-wishes from the City of Batavia to the Church. Additionally, a new hymn composed to honor the anniversary debuted during the service.

The Church originally organized as “The Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Batavia, Illinois” when scores of Swedish immigrants settled in Batavia. Through the years, the community-minded church became known for its focus on music and its outreach within the community.

Congratulations to Bethany Lutheran Church on their 150th anniversary! To learn more about this treasured community member, visit their website bethanybatavia.org.
