Aurora University Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 11

The Aurora University women's basketball team out lasted the Regents of Rockford University 74-59 on Tuesday night in Thornton Gymnasium. The Spartans shot 50% from three point range on the game to lift AU to victory.

How it Happened

- The first quarter was back and forth with the lead changing six times and the game tied four others.

- AU closed out the opening quarter on a 6-2 run behind three's from Elle Wolff and Julie Galauner.

- After the first 10 minutes, AU led 18-15.

- A 6-0 run started the second for AU to open up a 24-15 advantage. Sam Barrett hit a three from deep to push the lead up to nine.

- Rockford managed to work back into the game and cut the AU lead to one twice but the Spartans would not let go of the lead.

- Two more three point buckets from Crystal Rios and April Tuason helped close out the second.

- Going into halftime, AU led Rockford 33-29.

- Nine different Spartans collected a basket in the first-half.

- The three ball continued to fuel the Spartans in the third quarter as they hit three more.

- AU held a 12-point lead, their largest of the game to that point before heading into the fourth up 53-43.

- In the fourth, Rockford managed to hang around for a while with the Spartans keeping at least a six point advantage.

- AU out scored Rockford 14-5 in the final five minutes.

- Free throws and AU's 12th three of the game pushed the lead up to 15, the games biggest.

- AU hit three three-point baskets in each quarter and finished the night going 12-of-24.

- The Spartans were victorious 74-59.
