Batavia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 24.

The Batavia Chamber of Commerce was thrilled to celebrate the permanent location of Batavia Chamber member Reading Matters, 717 Main Street, Batavia with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 21. The business is owned by Laura Matter, who is also a valued Batavia Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.

Mayor Jeffery Schielke presided over the celebration, along with owner Laura Matter. Among the well-wishers were Liam McKay, Laura’s husband; her parents Cyril and Joyce Matter; and brother Jeff Matter. Other attendees were Batavia Chamber President Margaret Perreault; Shirley Mott, chamber communications and membership coordinator; several Reading Matters students and their parents; along with chamber ambassadors and friends.

Reading Matters provides professional, private reading intervention services with an experienced, credentialed reading specialist, producing results efficiently and effectively for all learners. Some students include those previously identified with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, children with autism or behavioral challenges. After working entirely virtual because of the pandemic, in-person tutoring resumes for those clients who want it on Tuesday, June 1. A virtual option will remain.
