City of Geneva City Council Met October 26

City of Geneva City Council met Oct. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Visitors are welcome to all City meetings; however, pursuant to Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order 2020-61 limiting gatherings of no more than 25 persons (or 25% of room occupancy) and a requirement to wear a face covering in public places, physical attendance at public meetings may be limited or restricted. Meetings will be livestreamed for the public to provide the ability to contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and roll call votes of the open meeting in real time. Tonight’s meeting will be conducted under Robert's Rules of Order. The Mayor or Chairman of the meeting will serve as the Parliamentarian. All Council members may at any time seek advice or counsel of the City Attorney as is deemed necessary to interpret, overrule and/or stay any actions by the Aldermen, Mayor or Chairman.

CALL TO ORDER

The Special Meeting of the Geneva City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Kevin Burns at 7:00 p.m.

Aldermen present:

Aldermen and Clerk attending by video or teleconference: Mike Bruno, Becky Hruby, Richard Marks, Jeanne McGowan, Craig Maladra, Gabriel Kaven, Dean Kilburg, Brad Kosirog, Robert Swanson, Roger Godskesen.

Aldermen absent: Tara Burghart

Also attending: City Administrator Stephanie Dawkins, City Atty. Ron Sandack (by video)

NEW BUSINESS /PUBLIC COMMENT

None

3. ITEMS OF BUSINESS

a. Consider Ordinance No. 2020-33 Amending Title 10 (Building Regulations), Chapter 4 (Fire Prevention and Life Safety Codes), Section 3 (Fire Prevention Code Amendments), of the Geneva City Code.

Administrator Dawkins read a description of the ordinance, and explained the situation which made it necessary to bring forward earlier than anticipated due to enhance mitigation regulations related to the pandemic.

Moved by Ald. Bruno, seconded by Ald. Kosirog to approve the ordinance as presented.

There being no questions or comments, the matter was put to a vote:

Roll Call:

AYES: 9 (Ald. Bruno, Hruby, Kaven, Kilburg, Kosirog, Maladra, Marks, McGowan, Swanson)

ABSENT: 1 (Burghart)

NAYS: 0 Motion Carried

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, moved by Ald. Marks to adjourn the Geneva City Council meeting.

ABSENT: 1 (Burghart)

NAYS: 0 Motion Carried
