Q: What are the Blue Cross Blue Shield COVID-19 relief credit payments?
A: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) provided premium credits to eligible, existing fully insuredcustomers equal to 15% of the medical premium. For active employees, this credit was provided through payroll(both the deduction – employee share, and benefit – employer share). The payments reflected in the packetare for retirees who are on the City’s plan (retirees pay the full premium cost). The total credit provided byBCBSIL was $37,168.78.
