City of Geneva City Council met July 6.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

Agenda Item 11. Municipal Bills for Payment

1) Deuchler, $44,736.54

Q: What is the status of this evaluation?

A: The project is 40% complete.

2) FederalPacific, $44,680

Q: What is the air switchgear for?

A: Air insulated, pad-mounted switches for the cable replacement contract in Geneva East. This is a long delivery item and was ordered for the project in mid-March.

3) PermitRefunds, $4,700

Q: Are there offsetting decreases in expenses?

A: No. The Mayor’s Executive Order 2020-04 provided for the quarterly parking permits for the third quarter (March through May) to be applied to the fourth quarter (June through August). An option was provided that permit parking holders who requested a refund in lieu of an extension would be required to surrender the old permit. The benefit is that this will assist in our need to reduce the number of parking permits issued once the Third Main Line project begins that ultimately will result in a loss of parking spaces. A request was sent to the Union Pacific Railroad requesting a waiver or decrease in the lease payments for the same time period, but to date, no response has been received.

Agenda Item 13. Presentation of Ordinances, Resolutions, Petitions, Bids

d.) Consider Approval of Resolution No. 2020-42 Authorizing FY2019-2020 Budget Amendments as Presented.

Q: Theunanticipatedretirementsprobablywerenotincludedatthetimeoftheemployeecensusforthe actuarial valuation for the police pension fund. Is there an estimate of the impact this unanticipated change will have on required contributions going forward?

A: The most recent valuation as of April 30, 2020, includes the unanticipated retirements.
