City of Elgin issued the following announcement on April 24.
Your regular garbage and recycling collection service continues as usual, but the following services are temporarily suspended:
▪️Bulky item collection : This includes scheduled events or extra call in service for large, bulky items placed outside the cart, like mattresses, box springs, sofas, furniture and white good pickup. "White good pickup" refers to anything that would require an appliance sticker: Hot Water Heaters, Dishwashers, Refrigerators, Freezers, Stoves, Washers, Dryers, Dehumidifiers, Air Conditioner, Window Air Conditioner Units
Extra bags outside the cart with garbage stickers will still be collected.
