CITY OF ELGIN: Elgin Prepared to Respond to Cases of Coronavirus

City of Elgin issued the following announcement on March 10.

COVID-19, commonly known as “novel coronavirus 2019,” has become a widespread concern as more and more cases are diagnosed in the United States and worldwide. As part of the City of Elgin's commitment to providing a safe and healthy community, we are carefully monitoring the evolving coronavirus situation and are working closely with health agencies for information and guidance.

---Illinois remains a low-risk area---

We do expect to see cases in Elgin at some point. Here's what you need to know:

▪️We continue to implement preventive measures in line with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other health agencies.

▪️City of Elgin emergency operations staff is ready to respond to anyone requiring assistance.

▪️Individuals are encouraged to continue practicing good hygiene to prevent contracting or spreading virus borne illnesses like influenza or Coronavirus.
