City of Batavia issued the following announcement on Nov. 29.
The City of Batavia is extending its leaf collection efforts for one week in an effort to serve as many citizens as possible. This additional leaf collection effort is weather dependent and may cease at any time. The City cannot control weather conditions nor can we prevent unforeseen circumstances such as mechanical equipment breakdowns. Crews will make one pass through town starting Monday, December 2, at 6 a.m. and will not return to areas already collected during this extra collection, NO exceptions. Crews will only collect leaves that have been raked into piles and deposited in the parkway, behind the curb. Unlike our regular collection efforts, crews will not be raking loose leaves during this special collection. Leaves which have not been raked into piles by homeowners will not be collected. If residents want to ensure disposal of their leaves, then they are encouraged to place them into yard waste bags and set them out for regular collection. Yard waste bag filled with leaves do not require stickers for the month of December.
