City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Aug. 16.
All are invited to the third annual Elgin Hay Day, a fall-themed event on Elgin's west side featuring hayrides, a petting zoo, potato sack races, a hay maze, arts and crafts and other fun kids activities. The event will also include local food vendors and live entertainment.

Georgia Rae 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.: Georgia Rae has won 7 state fiddle championship titles (WI, IL, MN), 5 state twin fiddle champion titles (MN, CO) and is the 2016 National Twin Fiddle Champion (NOTFA, ID). She has been performing before audiences with the Georgia Rae Family Band since 2011 at various venues such as the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, Chicago Botanic Garden, Jackpine Jamboree, John Hartford Festival, and country fairs and festivals throughout the Midwest. Georgia Rae also hosts radio shows “Kicking Back with G Rae and Jacks” (WHIW, 101.3 Harvard, IL) and “Women in Rock” (WBSD 98.3, Burlington, WI)
Tiny Country 1:30-3:00 p.m.: Despina is a singer songwriter from northern Illinois playing a unique mixture of Americana, bluegrass, popular covers and heartfelt originals. Tiny Country trio includes Chris Grant who plays both guitar and violin and Kim Sheya singing beautiful backing vocals and holding down the rhythm on upright bass. A scenic detour from a familiar road, Tiny Country takes you through the twists and turns of Americana music.
Nearby residents are encouraged to walk or bike to the event. A limited amount of parking will be available around the perimeter of the park. Parking will be also be available at the Prairie Knolls Middle School parking lot, located at 225 Nesler Road, where shuttle service to and from the event site will be provided. Handicapped accessible parking will be available at the event site.
