Dresser Road in DeKalb.
The event brings together over 60 vendors representing various state and local agencies, businesses and area health service organizations that offer programs and resources for seniors. Information covers a wide range of topics including health care, recreation, nutrition, caregiver needs, nursing home and long-term care, supportive living and much more.
“Helping local seniors maintain a healthy and active lifestyle by accessing the tremendous array of local resources available to them is the goal of our fair,” Representative Keicher said. “I encourage everyone to stop by and take advantage of the many outstanding local programs and services available to seniors right here in our community.”
Free blood pressure, hearing and memory testing are among the complimentary health screenings offered at the Senior Fair. Jewel-Osco will provide Shingles and Pneumonia shots. Seniors will need to bring their Medicare and Medicare Part D cards. There will also be a special presentation on veteran’s benefits from the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
“I am looking forward to visiting with seniors and providers about their health care needs and facilitating the sharing of resources they need to lead active, productive lives,” said Senator Syverson. “This event combines various state and local health services to help seniors improve every aspect of their lives.”
Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Voluntary Action Center. Additionally, all attendees will be entered into a drawing for special door prizes to be awarded just prior to the end of the event.
