City of Elgin issued the following announcement on May 19.
Starting Monday, May 20, Lawrence Avenue will be closed between State Street (Route 31) and Crystal Avenue for Union Pacific Railroad to perform repairs to the railroad crossing.
The closure is scheduled to last through Thursday, May 23. Use posted detours. In addition, eastbound Lawrence Avenue will be closed at McClure Avenue to relieve some traffic. Local access will be available.
