The price of local government in 2017: Aurora Township

The Aurora Township budget was $7.19 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's an increase of 1.5 percent from 2016, when the township spent $7.08 million.

Aurora Township has a population of 146,149.

Since 2001, the Aurora Township budget has fallen by 6.2 percent, from $7.66 million. The township population has grown 18.8 percent over the same period, from 123,000.

Salaries accounted for 28.8 percent of township spending in 2017. Aurora Township property taxpayers paid $2.07 million for 33 full-time employees and 41 part-time employees.
