City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Jan. 13.
After a small break, snow is expected to continue until about 1 a.m. Accumulation so far measures at 1.7 inches at the Riverside Treatment Plant, with another 1-2 inches expected. Main roads are in good shape and drivers continue keeping the centers open throughout their routes. A new shift of drivers will take over at 10 p.m. Please keep your vehicles off the streets and drive safely
