City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Oct. 9.
Keep your eyes peeled as Elgin’s Public Works Department will be downtown this week to install new signage marking the boundaries of the Downtown Commercial National Register Historic District!
Beginning in November of 2017, the Elgin Heritage Commission partnered with the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin IL's Design Committee to seek entrants to participate in a unique design competition to create signage that will represent the Elgin Downtown Commercial Historic District.
In May of 2018, the Heritage Commission and the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s Design Committee announced the design winner, Michael Zimmer, using his design as the marker of the district.
What a great addition to Elgin's historic downtown!
