The district transferred three students to another program instead of suspending or expelling them.
According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 4,710 students during the year. That equates to 22.7 percent of the 20,708 students enrolled.
Students were expelled for one incident with drugs and one incident with unspecified reasons.
Of the 3,941 in-school suspensions, 2,679 were given to boys and 1,262 were given to girls, including 738 elementary or middle schoolers and 3,203 high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 3,862 incidents. There were 53 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 3,500 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 767 out-of-school suspensions, 596 were given to boys and 171 were given to girls, including 483 elementary or middle schoolers and 277 high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 437 incidents. There were 192 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 341 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
