1. Call to Order

Co-Chair Gillam called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.

3. Office of Community Reinvestment - Workforce Development Division

A. Dir. Berger reviewed the monthly WIOA and Trade Budget reports included in the agenda packet. He stated that everything is on track for full expenditure. He presented the following resolution:

B. Resolution: Authorizing Contracting for Rapid Response Employment Services for Workers Impacted at Caterpillar

This authorizes a contract with Waubonsee Community College to deliver job readiness workshops over roughly a 13-month period beginning on February 14, 2018, in an amount not to exceed $139,600.00.

5. Jobs Committee Priorities

A. Why Kane 2018 Website - Kane County IT Department (Priorities 3, 4, and 6)

Referencing the Why Kane website and a handout, staff Toth reviewed the 2017 website additions and user statistics noting users are down from 2016. He shared information on the top pages visited and the referral links that direct the most traffic to the website. Toth stated the CGRC would be launching their website after their initiative. They plan to have more connectivity with them in the future.

Referencing a presentation not included in the agenda packet, Nagel reviewed Kane County Connects statistics. He shared a list of the top ten stories noting the number one story pertains to economic development. The top story categories are economic development, jobs, and tourism events. Nagel provided recommendations to help increase the traffic to the website. Considerable conversation followed.

6. Public Comment

Lesa Norris, Dean of Workforce Development at Waubonsee Community College, stated they started offering training for Caterpillar employees in September 2017 and will go through April 2018. The training includes OSHA, certified production technician, presentation skills, and Microsoft Office Suite.
