1. Call to Order

Co-Chair Gillam called the meeting to order at 10:32 AM.

3. Office of Community Reinvestment - Workforce Development Division

A. OCR WIOA Performance Reports

Staff Renken reviewed the reports included in the agenda packet.

B. OCR Financials

Staff Gonzalez reviewed the monthly financial reports included in the agenda packet. Dir. Berger presented the following resolution:

C. Resolution: Authorizing Amendments to Agreements for Program Year 2017 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Youth Services

This authorizes amendments to four existing sub recipient agreements for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Youth Services. The amendments expand the scopes of service each sub recipient will provide and, in some cases, the periods of performance. They also increase the amount of funding to cover the cost of the additional services. The amendments have been authorized by the Workforce Development Board, which oversees workforce development activities in the three-county area. All contract expenses will be covered with federal funds provided by the U.S. Department of Labor, via the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

5. Jobs Committee Priorities

A. The Impacts of Holiday Markets, Craft Fairs, and Art Shows on Kane County (Priorities 3, 4 & 6)

Co-Chair Gillam introduced Robin Reed, Owner of Art of the Heartland, which produces of craft shows throughout Kane County. Ms. Reed provided an overview of the industry. Each craft shows feature booths with artists selling their own handmade products. She promoted upcoming events.

Referencing a presentation not included in the agenda packet, Kim Tibbetts, Curator of the Swell Gallery, provided background on her gallery located in West Dundee. She discussed art featured throughout the years. She promoted an upcoming Holiday Market in December featuring over 30 artists.
