Those interested in a career in law enforcement in the Village of Gilberts can apply until January for a full-time opportunity.
Gilberts is seeking applicants for a full-time police officer position, a job posting said.
The position offers a base salary of more than $54,000, which increases to more than $74,000 after seven years in the position, the posting said.
Requirements for the job include being a U.S. citizen, being at least 21-years-old, but no older than 35 when applying, having no felony convictions, living within 30 miles of Gilberts within 180 days of being hired, being a high school graduate or having your G.E.D. and having an Illinois driver’s license.
The deadline for the application is 4 p.m. on Jan. 4. Applications must be submitted online.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to an orientation and written exam at Gilberts Middle School. The exam starts at 8 a.m. on Jan. 20.
Preference will be given to those who served in the U.S. military for at least one year and were honorably discharged. A copy of discharge papers should be submitted along with the application.
The posting said officers receive a benefits package and are enrolled in a pension program.
