The calls in Elgin included 341 fires - 159 structure fires, 74 vehicle fires and 106 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $2,733,255 in fire loss - or about $8,015 per fire.
The department also received one false call, including 63 malicious calls and 1 other false calls.
The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, four fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents and 51 were injured in non fire-related incidents.
The Elgin Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 134 active employees and 104 retired or inactive employees, was $5,349,646 in debt as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $15,688 for every fire in 2016.
