Barrington Hills Board of Trustees approves purchase of police vehicles

Barrington Hills Board of Trustees met Monday, Jan. 23.

The six members and president of the village board of trustees are elected at large. They meet regularly in the Alexander MacArthur Room of Village Hall, 112 Algonquin Road in Barrington Hills.

Treasurer reported that the Village was under budget by approximately $175,000 in 2016. Board stated that financial reporting has improved over the last year.

Roads & Bridges Report

Longmeadow Parkway/Autumn Trail - Kane County DOT Report

Board discussed the Longmeadow Parkway including meetings with Kane County Department of Transportation and the McHenry County Council of Governments. It was reiterated that the Village is opposed to the project, but they still wish to remain informed if the project goes forward. Rosin will prepare letter to IDOT regarding the parkway.

Croll discussed specific issues he found with the easement. Konicek raised the issue of the precedent being set by this agreement.

ZBA Monthly Report

ZBA heard testimony regarding a boat house, it was tabled until after a HOA meeting could take place and revised plans were submitted.

Accept Proposal from B&F Code Services to Review Village Building Codes and Procedures

Motion Konicek 2nd Croll

Ken Garrett of B&F Code Services presented a proposal to the Board regarding updating the Village Code and reviewing enforcement procedures. Konicek raised questions to the need for local codes when there are state codes in place. The review will cost flat rate of $2,800.

Legislative Initiative and Referendum Report re: Property Tax

McLaughlin reported on the actions of the other legislative bodies, as well as the State and Counties. He also reported that the Village has lowered its levy in each of the last 3 years.
