Algonquin ranked 473th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The Village of Algonquin had the 473th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 70 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Algonquin was $16.89 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kane County Reporter, Algonquin generated $516,377.50 in net sales from its 23 lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $532,919 in April 2015.

The Village of Algonquin is in Kane County, and has a population of 30,571, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Lake in the Hills, Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, Huntley, Cary, Crystal Lake and Gilberts.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $25,071.72.

Algonquin's top lottery retailer is Meijer #206 located at 206 Meyer Dr, Algonquin, IL 60102.

Meijer #206 generated 13 percent of Algonquin's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Kane County's sales that month, which was $3,384,683.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kane County in 2015 were West Dundee, Hampshire, North Aurora, South Elgin and Algonquin.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
