Montgomery ranked 615th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The Village of Montgomery had the 615th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 49 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Montgomery was $12.83 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kane County Reporter, Montgomery generated $370,721 in net sales from its 13 lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $311,989 in April 2015.

The Village of Montgomery is in Kane County, and has a population of 28,898, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Oswego, Yorkville, Aurora and Boulder Hill.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $25,071.72.

Montgomery's top lottery retailer is Marathon located at 1 Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL 60538.

Marathon generated 17 percent of Montgomery's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Kane County's sales that month, which was $3,384,683.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kane County in 2015 were West Dundee, Hampshire, North Aurora, South Elgin and Algonquin.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
