Geneva highlights best methods to report power outages

Power lines(1000)

Geneva wants its residents to understand the best way to inform the city about power outages, including after hours and on weekends.

After an underground cable failure cut off electricity for 3,239 west-side customers, the Geneva Public Works Department Electric Division received more than 45 online requests related to the outage, both via its request tracker and social media. Unfortunately, those channels are not monitored 24 hours a day, prompting the city to issue its release that details the best ways for customers to get in touch at any time.

The Geneva Public Works Department Electric Division is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. During that time, it is best to contact the division directly by phone, on the division’s website or on its mobile app.

After hours and on weekends, the best way to report outages is to call the Geneva Police Department on its non-emergency number; the police will then contact the division. While the city acknowledged that this method might not be convenient, it maintains that it is the most effective way to ensure quick response to any service problems.
