Dundee business owner and Republican Scott Sinnett, campaigning for the position of Dundee Township Highway Commissioner in February’s Illinois Consolidated Primary Election, recently shared his capabilities for constituents as they prepare to cast their votes.

"I would appreciate your endorsement as I run for the elected position of Dundee Township Highway Commissioner in the Feb. 28 Primary," Sinnett stated via his Facebook page.

Sinnett literally has dug into the district as the owner and operator of Sinnett Excavating. The candidate, having already collected several public endorsements through social media, described his business experience with strong management and organizational skills, from backhoe to board meetings.

Campaigning on a platform of experience and trust — particularly transparency — Sinnett wants to enhance the useful lifespan of equipment and augment the relationship between the supervisor’s office and road department.

“The Road District has overlapping … needs with the Open Space and Cemetery Departments,” stated the candidate, who envisions clearer interdepartmental working agreements to increase effectiveness both of equipment and personnel.

Additionally, he expressed solidarity with a Dundee Township Republican resolution that takes a position against the practice of hiring relatives.

“Township jobs are good jobs and should be open to all residents,” Sinnett said. “When elected officials hire relatives, it is inevitable that taxpayers feel that family members have an unfair advantage.”

The candidate has run his excavating business for three decades.

“I have experience in the managing of employees, projects and budgets all with integrity, honesty and a great reputation,” he said. “I believe it is time for a change in the current leadership of the Highway Commissioner Department, and I am prepared to handle the job.”
