Algonquin Liquor Commission recommends class F liquor license for Buona Beef

Algonquin Liquor Commission met Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The Algonquin Liquor Commission meets as called. Members of the village board serve on the commission and the village president is the liquor commissioner.

Special Liquor Commission Meeting

Held in Village Board Room on October 18, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: In the absence of Liquor Commissioner John Schmitt, Village Clerk, Jerry Kautz called the meeting to order at 7:20 pm and requested a motion to appoint a Temporary Chairperson.

Moved by Smith, seconded by Sosine to appoint Brian Dianis as Temporary Chair. Roll call: Brian  Dianis, Jim Steigert, Jerrold Glogowski, John Spella, Debby Sosine, Bob Smith. (Quorum established)

Staff in Attendance: Tim Schloneger, Village Manager; Mike Kumbera, Assistant Village Manager; and Police Sergeant Andrew Doles. Village Attorney Kelly Cahill was also present.

(1) Approve a Class “F” Liquor License for Buona Beef, LLC, 501 S. Randall Road, Algonquin Buona Beef, LLC has complied with the village’s requirements by completing the submittal of all documents and fees as required by the Village of Algonquin for obtaining the license pertinent to their establishment. All fees have been paid and all documents are in order per Deputy Chief Doles.

Commissioners Dianis, Steigert, and Smith asked several questions for one of the company’s store managers.

The Municipal Code for the Village of Algonquin allows for 11 Class F Liquor Licenses, with 11 currently issued. Upon the approval and issuance of the Liquor License for Buona Beef, LLC, and approval of an ordinance to increase the number of Class F Liquor Licenses this class will have no licenses available.

The advice and consent of the Commission was to issue the license.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Temporary Chair Dianis adjourned the meeting at 7:29 p.m.
