Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 59.6 percent of Dundee-Crown High School's (DCHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For DCHS, its college enrollment rate marks a decline since 2014, when 60.6 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
Among other high schools in Kane, the class of 2015 college-enrollment rates at Kaneland Senior High School (53.4 percent), Hampshire High School (52.6 percent), Duquoin High School (47.1 percent), West Aurora High School (30.6 percent), Streamwood High School (29.9 percent), East High School (19.4 percent), Larkin High School (22.9 percent) and Elgin High School (25.0 percent) were all lower than that of DCHS.
The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at DCHS in 2015 was 2,576; 594 (23.06 percent) were seniors.
ISBE said 32.4 percent of DCHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 or higher on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
DCHS students did better in math (29.1 percent) and English (48.2 percent), and worse in science (22.9) and reading (27.2).
Only 15.3 percent of DCHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
