Volunteer, activist, advocate, entrepreneur, longtime resident and Republican Tracy Smodilla is throwing her candidate hat in the ring to run for the 22nd District state Senate seat to put the state and district “back on track.”

Smodilla is no stranger to leadership, having sat on both the Bartlett Economic Development Commission and the RTA Transportation Oriented District Steering Committee. She has served as a liaison on multiple professional committees in civic and community capacities, always abiding by her passion for excellence and willingness to roll up her sleeves.

To reduce debt and taxes, Smodilla supports sustainable fiscal solutions and pure “common sense” policies to help stifle the recent “out-migration” of families from the state under financial duress. Additionally, she backs Gov. Bruce Rauner’s “turn-around agenda,” optimization of Medicaid and education reform.

Having gathered more than 2,500 signatures to qualify for candidacy on May 31, Smodilla recently extended thanks to various Republican groups in her district.

I am humbled and honored by your endorsements,” Smodilla said, as she expressed gratitude to constituents via her campaign website, urging their continued support. “The message of conservative values and the exceptionalism of freedom know none of the boundaries drawn by city, township, county, district or state.”

“Buckle up, my beloved patriots!” Smodilla said, referring to election challenges ahead. “I was born here, I am a daughter of The Land of Lincoln….I will not go quietly. Please stand with me.”
