The Village of Montgomery Public Works Department is set to begin flushing water mains in both the Village and the unincorporated Boulder Hill subdivision. The work will take place on September 8, 15, and 22, starting each Monday morning and continuing until all scheduled areas are completed. The duration of the process may vary depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen factors.

According to officials, the main goal of flushing water mains is to remove sediment from water distribution lines. This process also helps maintain water quality and ensures that fire hydrants are working properly.

Residents are advised not to wash laundry during flushing operations in their neighborhood because discolored water may cause stains. They should also run cold-water taps with strainers removed after flushing to clear any sediment that may have entered household plumbing.

Public Works crews will conduct hydrant flushing daily from approximately 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., following this schedule:

– Week of September 8: Areas east of Orchard Road to Hill Avenue (including Parkview Estates) and north of Route 30 (Seasons Ridge) up to Ashland Avenue.
– Week of September 15: Unincorporated Boulder Hill (expected to take about two weeks), South of Route 30 to Circle Drive West, and from Route 25 to Douglas Road within the Village; also Lakewood Creek West, Fairfield Way, and Foxmoor.
– Week of September 22: Subdivisions west of Orchard Road to Big Bend Road and from Galena Road to Jericho Road—including Montgomery Crossings, Lakewood Creek, Blackberry Crossing, Blackberry Crossing West, Huntington Chase, Balmorea, Orchard Prairie North, Saratoga Springs—and continued work in Boulder Hill.

For questions about the hydrant flushing program, residents can contact Public Works at 630-896-9241. More information is available at https://www.montgomeryil.org/.
