City of Aurora Civil Service Commission met July 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER-4:01 p.m.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Timothy Oelker-Excused

Vice Chairman Ramona Wood

Commissioner Carmen Armstrong-Present via phone

Commissioner John Perkins

Commissioner Angela Thomas

OTHERS PRESENT: Dustin Coppes-APD Background Investigator

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commissioner Armstrong motioned to approve the June 17, 2021 meeting minutes with corrections. Commissioner Perkins seconded. Motion Passed.

PUBLIC COMMENT

NEW BUSINESS

Commissioner Thomas motioned to take the Commission into executive session at 4:23 p.m. to review public safety applicant polygraph, psychological and backgrounds. Commissioner Perkins seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Thomas motioned to take the Commission out of executive session at 4:47 p.m. to review public safety (Police Department) polygraph evaluation and/or psychological assessments. Commissioner Perkins seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Perkins motioned to pass 2021 Police Officer candidates Jacob Leonard, Omar Arteaga, Benjamin Babler, Joseph Escutia and Daniel Fadden to the next step in the hiring process due to the results of the polygraph assessment. Commissioner Thomas seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Perkins motioned to pass 2021 Police Officer candidates Jacob Leonard, Omar Arteaga, Benjamin Babler, Joseph Escutia and Daniel Fadden to the next step in the hiring process due to the results of the psychological assessment. Commissioner Thomas seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Perkins motioned to pass 2021 Police Officer candidates Jacob Leonard, Omar Arteaga, Benjamin Babler, Joseph Escutia and Daniel Fadden to the next step in the hiring process due to the results of the background investigation. Commissioner Thomas seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Thomas motioned to strike 2021 Police Officer candidate Antonio Mitchell from the eligibility list due to the results of the background investigation. Commissioner Armstrong seconded. Motioned Passed.

Commissioner Thomas motioned, seconded by Commissioner Perkins to adjourn the meeting at 4:47 p.m. Motioned Passed.
