Former state university employee Valadez Wilger paid in $10K to pension fund, could collect $116K in retirement

Former state university employee Jaye Valadez Wilger, who retired in January 2019, saved $9,705 toward a pension over 6 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Valadez Wilger would collect as much as $116,464, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Kane County Reporter.

The projection assumes Valadez Wilger received $2,448 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Valadez Wilger will have already received $10,241 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
